On
the inside of one of the skylight screens this morning was Spider.
This particular spider is one of the ones that seems to jump when it
moves, starting in one spot, then appearing again in another. Its
movements are so quick my eyes can't follow them.
Spider
got me thinking about the limitations of my vision. In the infinite
spectrum of color, there are only a limited set of colors I can see.
The same is true for all of my senses. Spider reminds me that even
though my senses can't track everything that exists, that doesn't
mean it's not there. Spider is moving from one place to the other.
Her seeming to disappear and reappear is an illusion.
Today,
I will be paying attention to Spider's lesson. Spider teaches me that
what I see is not all that is. My limited particular experience can
make illusion seem like truth.
